From time to time I get a blue screen of death. In fact, it doesn't bother me that much because it doesn't always happen. And when it happens, just turn off my laptop and everything is fine. I'm kind of ok with that since my machine is still running. This is what it says when I get BSOD: Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. So I knew the BSOD might have to do with the outdated BIOS.I followed the instructions shown on this link:
Updating System BIOS Using HP Softpaq

I downloaded the BIOS update but I have not installed it yet. I am worried that it may screw up my machine. Should I be worried? Is there anything I can do to safely flash the bios? Can i back up my current BIOS? And how to restore it in case of failure? Do you think the new BIOS will make the blue screen vanish forever?
I have read that it's so dangerous to update BIOS because it could harm my system and i might not be able to
Boot my laptop. I could lose everything!. Do you recommend me to update my BIOS? Or is it much safer to stay with my current BIOS and I forget about the blue screen?
I'm so positive that my laptop is not infected with viruses at all. A couple of months ago, I replaced my old C drive with a new one. So the blue screen of death I keep getting is not a hardware issue.
