Can't boot CD
I recently purchased a HP 15t-da000, InsydeH20 BIOS version F.04, Windows 10. I am trying to resolve the problem of booting to a bootable CD.
- I am using a USB CD/DVD drive that works in every other way
- I updated the BIOS 2 weeks ago when I received the laptop.
- I am using boot discs that have always worked in older computers
- When I go to boot options using f9, it shows my two internal hard drives and two external hard drives. It does not show the USB CD/DVD drive.
- In the BIOS setup I have disabled secure boot, enabled Legacy, changed my boot order, putting my USB CD/DVD at the top and my hard drives at the bottom of the list, saved and exited. I have received the 4 digit code and entered it.
- The Boot Manager entry in the above list has an > in front of it.
I have tried booting to various CD’s with no luck. I’ve repeatedly restored defaults and then made the changes to the BIOS, again with no luck.
Am I missing something?

Laptop trackpad "glitch"
So I came across this problem after I bought this laptop about a month ago. The trackpad works fine most of the time but if I move the mouse cursor a tiny bit, and quite fast, it jumps back to the previous position and registers the gesture as a tap and the cursor "clicks". I've tried different drivers, and dug through all of the trackpad settings I could find but to no success. I'll attach a GIF showing how it looks.
I'm using an HP Envy X360 13-ag0804no running on Windows 10 Home. The trackpad is a Synaptics SMBus ClickPad.
It's probably just a simple setting I haven't found yet but does anyone know why the cursor behaves like this?

Alt codes not working.
I have just tried to use an Alt code on my Pavilion G6, I wished to use the degree symbol, and have found that none work. There is some correspondance on the web about this strange omissiion.
Has there been any progress towards a solution?

I recently installled synaptics software from the given link but i am facing a problem. When I installed synaptics it asked me to restart the PC, i did. But after the restart it is showing nothing. A windows Logo appears it loads and a black screen with rotating dots appear and after that nothing, just a black screen. What Can I Do Now???

"Sure Click" breaks Internet Explorer fingerprint logins
When using the HP Client Security Manager to remenber website logins, everything works fine for both Internet Explorer (v11) and Chrome. However, when the HP "Sure Click" browser is also installed, fingerprint logins no longer work in Internet Explorer, but fingerprints continue to work in Chrome just fine. When Sure Click is disabled, logins work again in IE. Any solution to this? It would be really nice if Client Security Manager worked with Sure Click logins.

HP 3D Drive Guard is no longer available in W10 October Update
After intalling Windows 10 October Update I have a message that Drive Guard is no longer available on my system and any of suggested on this forum version are not compatible with my system. What else should I try to fix my problem?
P.S. Problem is in (ACPI\VEN_HPQ&DEV_6000)
Added later: solution found - install application in soulution post below via device manager. Works great.

Typing special characters on an HP laptop keyboard
Anybody know how to type the special characters on an HP laptop keyboard?
Need to be able to TYPE special characters (e.g. É, ê, ë, etc.) on the laptop directly from the keyboard. On a full 101 keyboard alt+0234 etc. does the job, and I have seen on some laptops numeric keys are marked on the u, i, o, j, k, l, etc. keys and they work, but HP doesn't mark a numeric keybaord.

Backlit keyboard not long auto on/off after update
I recently had to update Windows (which updated the Bios) to fix some horrible robotic sound issues, but after the update, the auto on/off for the backlit keyboard when typing is no longer working.
I can't find any help anywhere else online for this issue.
Note: Windows Mobility Center doesn't contain the option for the backlit keyboard.

Email details sent to McAfee without permission
I just purchased and set up my new HP notebook yesterday. During set-up, I entered my email address that I use to login to my Microsoft account. Once initial configuration/set-up had finished, I went to Control Panel and uninstalled the bloatware that I did not need, including McAfee LiveSafe.
So very surprised to get an email afew hours later from McAfee, thanking me for using LiveSafe and inviting me to finish setting up my account. I appreciate that this was a free trial that I can cancel at any time. But here's the issue..... I never gave HP my permission to send my email address to McAfee. Have they not heard of GDPR and obtaining consent before passing personal data to a third party?

HP supplied Windows 10 installation media USB
I have recently been sent by HP a USB Pen Drive with Windows 10 installer.
Using this, it installs Windows 10 Version 1703.
Consequently, when using it the system then has to be upgraded to Version 1809 manually (Windows Update or Microsoft online Updating tool - media creator).
Is there a way I can update this Media so that it installs Version 1809 directly, and by implication update with all future Microsoft Windows 10 Feature Updates? Not fussed about intermediate Updates, but Feature Updates are a different animal.
The info.txt file in the Root of the media gives:
