Dear Hp support,
yesterday my Envy 17 did not reboot, just after an unwanted bios update.
I read on these pages that this thing happened to many other users since last September 2013!!
How can it be so, after months that the problem happened to others??!!
I am quite astonished that this issue has not been fixed by HP so far!!
What shall I do now?
My Envy is just six months old...
I am sincerely disappointed.

I just bought a HP 15 Notebook. I forgot my startup password. When i enter anything even treet times in a row, it tells me to contact account.live.com How can I fix this or is there something else wrong? Please help.

I have spent several hours attempting to resolve this issue myself prior to seeking help on this board. I am attempting to install a fresh copy of Windows XP that I own, (with disc and id numbers) on the dv1000. I deleted the existing partitions and reformatted the drive.
After the successful XP install, under "Other devices" in hardware manager, I have three listings for "Base System Device," followed by "Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, PCI Device, SM Bus Controller, Video Controller, and Video Controller (VGA Compatible)" all showing yellow question marks and exclamation points. None show any drivers installed, or locatable on the system.
You would think that the Windows XP SP2 disc would have them, but apparently not.
I have downloaded and installed all the drivers listed on the HP website as appropriate for this model, to no avail.
All I really need is the network controller, or ethernet controller. If these worked, Windows update would take care of the rest, presumably.
Again, the laptop is a DV1000, the p/n is EZ607UA#ABA
Any help with this, specifically links to the CORRECT drivers, would be very much appreciated.

Recieved an hp 2000 as a gift, (used). was kina slow and getting random alerts so decided to do factory reset. after about 3 hours of running disks at 46% displays message "Destination drive not connected" click ok "only option" and it shuts down. tried this 3 times. freind of mine has same pc, he downloaded recovery to and usb drive. my pc says not valid recovery media or somthing of the sort.. Any help would be greatfuly appriciated< Thanks
I need to completee the process of generating a set of recovery discs.
I was in the process og making the discs and lost power.
since this is a one time opertunity I am concerned about
not being able to return to the process.
what do I do to create the recovery discs ?

Windows XP Professional
I changed the network settings from "Domain" to "Workgroup" and now cannot log in.
The unit requires an administrator password. I do not have it.
I've attempted to login with "administrator" and left the pasword blank. 3 times in a row and did not receive an error code. Only the dialog box saying something about wrong passsword and trying again.
I've attempted to use my old "Domain" user login info 3 times in a row and no error or fault code. Just the same dialog box.
If password recovery is not an option, can I use an adaptor with my laptop hardrive going to a working Windows computer and get my data files? Without the password? I have a working desktop with XP Home Edition and HP Pavilion dv4 with windows 7.
I'd appreciate any assistance you could provide.

The problem I have with my DV9700 is it will no longer boot. It was working great, but the other night, I had to do a hard re-boot, and then it failed to start with a blue screen with "Unmountable Boot Volume". This is with the original Vista 64 bit Home Premium version. I chose the option "Self Recovery" but it just finishes up sitting there continually scanning for something?
The hard drive is the original factory installed setup. My question is, how do I get my machine back up and running please? I have a Windows Vista Backup that would run each week to an external 2TB USB drive, but I am guessing that this will not recreate an exact image of my computers state? I would also need to have Vista running to use the backup? Some years ago (2010), I created a complete backup to about 20 DVD's but I am noy sure how to use them as they are for recovery I think?
It looks like I need to buy a new hard drive but how do I go about using the backups I have to install to a new drive? Also, what is the largest HDD I can use? Should I buy a SSD drive? I wanted at least a 1TB primary drive. Fry's Electronics has a Hybrid drive where the disk cache is solid state making it more affordable. I was thiking of getting one of these?
I would like to use my old original drive as a secondary drive if it is even possible to access its files? I have ordered a SATA caddy so I can mount it into the unused drive bay of the DV9700.
Anyway, I would truly appreciate any help please?

Hi guys,
The hard driver of my hp pavilion dv6 is damaged two days ago. I sent it to a certified hp repair store and got it replaced with a new one. After the repair, everything looks fine now but the system can't recognize the graphics. Therefore I downloaded and installed the intel graphics driver. However, after the installation and system restart, it crashed. Now it seems like only one of two garchics card can be accesible. Does anyone know what's exactly going on with my laptop. Is it a hardware issue or software issue?

I have a HP G60 Notebook PC. Windows 7 starts-up sometimes. When it does, it doesn't work right.... very slow. I checked for Windows Update and it says "never" updated. I run "check for updates" it says it cannot complete the check.
When I run certain programs, they don't run right.
I ran the hard disk check and got this message: #10008 replace hard disk message
I can access the internet when it comes up.
Can'te figure out what kindof problem I have :(

Okay, so when I turn on my computer the hp logo appears and the loading 'spinning circle' appears, and after a while they disappear. I've tried to disconnect everything and tried turning it on and off again, but still the same thing happens. I don't know if it's a damaged hard drive or something (I'm not very computer-savvy). From my understanding, I may have to format the disk, and I'm okay with that, I don't have anything important on there. But that's part two of my problem. F11 doesn't work either. I press it when i turn on the laptop, and the only thing that appears is the hp logo and "Please wait". After that, the screen turns black and absolutely nothing happens at all. I should mention I have recovery disks that i made when I first purchased the laptop (it's a total of six different disks), but even then I don't know how to use them to format the hard drive. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I got a hp lappy and whn u turn it on it comes up wth a blue screen nd says u need 2 enter a administrator or power on password.. I tried what i thought would be my password 3 times (i've forgotten) now it says 'system disabled' with this code 86793466.! Help? what do i do?
So not had this long but have desided to give it to my son for schooling and whatnot however I must format and reinstall windows and all that jazz unfortuantly I can't find the original disc it came with or if it even came with one. Is there a way I can get it back to factory spec even though I have previously deleted all recovery partitiions.
I do have a windows disc laying around here somewhere (not copy that came with laptop) but its the hp recovery stuff and whatnot I owuld like to reinstall for him (you know just in case)
Is there a download somewhere I could grab that stuff from or not.

I am in australia. My laptop was bought in the US. I was in Nepal a month ago. My laptop's hard disk crashed. I mean not a softwasre issue but the hard disk's hardware failure occured. I was in nepal so could't claim for warranty. I eventually replaced the hard disk. So I just want to buy a recovery disk for my laptop here in australia but the HP site would only take the zip codes for the US. I want the recovery disk shipped to Australia. So What can I do? Please help.
