Apps won't launch on HP laptop.

Okay so I have a HP laptop, operated by Windows 10. I was using it the other day, when suddenly the screen turned black, and since hasn't worked. I had trouble at first, but I can easily load the homepage now, with apps such as my files and Google. The load up is slow, but works. Despite this, apps won't load. I can't launch Google, my files, even my anti virus software. I assumed it was virus, however whatever I try to repair the laptop fails. I have tried draining the static electricity, restarting the laptop, launching safe mode, all of the troubleshooting methods, each fails. One time, my anti virus software offered for me to restart the laptop, to which worked and then allowed me to open my apps, but nothing has worked since. ( the laptop soon froze and after ages of waiting I had to turn it off) I was wondering if anyone knew of ways to help me, or even why this is happening. I'd rather not loose files, but if it's the only option, I will do so. I have researched ways to repair this, and nothing has worked and I'm pretty tired of wasting my time doing pointless tasks which will fail. Thanks!

Incorrect Extended Warranty Start/End Date

I'm having an warranty issue here similar to some others.

 

My factory warranty ended on 7/22/2016.
I purchased an extended warranty on May 29th, 2016 from representative through online Chat.

Got an email includes order number, but with a wrong Start Date: 28-JUN-2016.
The start date should be 23-JUL-2016 instead of 28-JUN-2016.
Online chat representative agreed and replied the following message during the conversation.
5:08PM Sa********ar: Yes that will be updated soon.
5:08PM Sa********ar: From the warranty team.
5:09PM Sa********ar: And the service order number will be sent to the email.
5:09PM Sa********ar: within some hours.
The representative promised that the discrepancy of my warranty start/end date “will be updated soon.....within some hours”, but that hasn't happen till now.

I filed online warranty dispute and replied to the HP Support email twice, all I got is an official reply as following without solving any of my problems:
According to our records the Extended Warranty start date for your HP Spectre x360 - 13-4003dx (ENERGY STAR) is 6/28/2016 and the end date is 6/28/2017.

If I look up my warranty, it says "Covered under Extended warranty, 11 months remaining.."
But if I click on Contact Support button, I got a message says "Your product’s warranty expired on July 22, 2016" and my only option indicates "Out of warranty products may require a fee for phone support"
My HP Support Assistant also shows EXPIRED.

It's frustrating and my support option is limited since HP thinks I'm out of warranty, but in fact I'm not.
Anybody knows how to deal with this kind of situation?

Notebook will not download updates from HP Support Assistant or Windows Updates. Tried from two different WiFi access points.

Need help with 3 monitors HP ProBook 640 / 2013 Ultraslim docking station

I am using an HP  ProBook 640 G2 with a 2013 Ultraslim docking station.  It has 2 DVI displays plus a VGA port.  I have been using one of the DVI ports & VGA port with no problems.  I just rec'd a 3 monitor and can't seem to get it to work.  It is being detected by the display settings, (It shows 3 monitors in the picture) but when I try to set it up using the drop down box below by selecting "Extend desktop to this display" it does nothing.  (fyi, that is the same way I have the 1st two monitors setup).  The onboard graphics card is an Intel(R) HD Graphics 520.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Star Wars content not working

Hello everyone.

Last week my new HP Pavilion 15 Star Wars-theme arrived (an000nd, with Windows 10). I bought it from a multimedia store with a discount because the box had been opened (could have been a showroom-model). But I soon noticed there was no Star Wars software to be found on the laptop. Even after I returned it to Factory Settings there was still no sign of the software. I also tried downloading the Star Wars Command Center and R2D2-application from the HP website, but after opening the message 'System is not supported' appears. I already had 2 chat sessions with an HP employee who upgraded the BIOS but unfortunately this didn't solve the problem either. I noticed there were threads about this subject, but after trying everything (like updating all the drivers and software through Recovery Manager) I'm starting to run out of options. Is there anyone who had a similar problem, or has any idea what I could try to fix this? Thanks a lot in advance.

Using HP Recovery Manager to delete the Recovery Partition-- will it add the space to the C drive??

Hello,

 

I upgraded my notebook to Windows 10 shortly after it was offered in August 2015.  I also upgraded my main drive with a smaller SSD.  So, now that the notebook's been running OK for almost a year, I'd like to delete the recovery partition.  I only have a 256 GB SSD, so deleting that Recovery partition would give me almost 50% more space on my C drive.

 

I tried using two different partition programs to do this-- both apps let me delete the partition (D: Recovery-- far right, top), but then neither will let me add the new space to the C drive.  There is small partition between the two, and they will let me resize that partition, but not the C partition.  

 

I found that the HP Recovery Manager that's installed on my notebook has an option for deleting the partition, but it doesn't say where it will put the new unallocated space (but I didn't go all the way with it yet.  If I work through it the rest of the way, will it give me the option of where to put the new unallocated space?  Or will it add it to the C drive automatically?

Hi

I recently had to change my SSD and reinstall the OS using the HP CD. My laptop doesn't have a sticker, I believe from MS support this is common and HP embed the license key in the hardware. I used an app, Belarc, to retriev the license keys from an SSD clone I have of the main SSD, This was 74T2M-DKDBC-788W3-H689G-6P6GT. When I entered this in the validate license key it errored and it also failed on the W10 clean install. After various discussions with MS support I understand that HP can deactivate the key after a hardware change. I have also found some indication that this is a 'common' key of some sort - see below. My question is; is this correct and if so how do I get the unique key that is partnered to my laptop?  Or is what I have been advised incorrect and I have had a dodgy license key for the past 3 years?

The problem here is the difference between OWM_SLP Keys, and COA_SLP Keys. ALL machines supplied by HP (everywhere!) with Win 7 Pro will have the following Key 74T2M-DKDBC-788W3-H689G-6P6GT They will also have a COA sticker on them with the COA_SLP Key which is specific to that machine. If your auditors are unaware of this, then they are living in cloud cuckoo-land. Please post an MGADiag report for one of the disputed machines - If the Key indicated is an OEM_SLP Key, then your are OK - if it's anything else other than a Volume License Key, then you are in trouble, technically.

 

MS 

HP embeds their license in the hardware in which if there are such hardware changes the key will deactivate. I know that this can be difficult. Here is what i suggest. It will be helpful to contact HP regarding this in order to check what is the original key embedded on this hardware I'm sure they have a tool to check the key partnered to the hardware. Once we have this we can then easily reactivate your windows.

Hi everyone,

since June 14th I m solving the fail of HP support. Support remotely disabled my notebook and there is no way they wanna fix it. Besides writting me how everything is escalated, there is no other activity. No calls, no emails, nothing just waiting. SO I found Ho questions on this forum so my question is:

1. How to solve the fail of HP support

2. How to get contacted by anyone from HP support?

3. How to compensate one and half month waiting for fix the problem caused by HP support?

Help in Setting up SIM Card on my Elitebook

Can somebody help me with the Drivers / Softwares which would enable me setup the SIM card on my EliteBook 840 G3  , running on Windows 8.1 -

 

I searched through but could not get any instructions for Windows 8.1 - HP connection Manager is not compatible with 8.1 - which would have enabled me to do the config.

 

Any help is really appreciated !!

HP Support Assistant won't open

Hello everyone, my HP Support Assistant doesn't open either from clicking the (?) icon in the taskbar or double clicking directly from the file location. Reinstalled twice but it still happens.

 

I noticed when I try to start the program, HPSF.exe appears in processes tab in task manager but nothing else appears. My HP Support Assistant version is 8.3.27.17.

I am using Microsoft window 7 operating system.  But I am not getting the software for this operating system.

Cannot install HP CoolSense on HP Envy 15 k081nr (Window 10 64bit)

Problem:

Installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 & feel lots of heat at the outlet with few tabs open in Chrome browser.

 

What I tried:

Followed http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02638953 and tried to install HP Cool sense from here (sp67743.exe) 

But could not install it, as it asks for .Net Framework v3.5 and opens a download page to install.

Could not install the downloaded file as it says - a newer version of .Net framework is already installed. (v4 is already installed on my machine)

Looks like, CoolSense setup needs only .Net Framework v3.5.

 

Help:

How can get it installed on my laptop?

Is there an another version that works?

 

HP CoolSense insallation failed message:

"This setup requires the .NET Framework version v3.5. Please install the .NET Framework and run this setup again. The .NET Framework can be obtained from the web. Would you like to do this now?"

 

.Net Framework installation failed message:

"Microsoft .NET Framework 4 is already a part of this operating system. You do not need to install the .NET Framework 4 redistributable. <A HREF="http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=164207">More information</A>.

Same or higher version of .NET Framework 4 Client Profile has already been installed on this computer."
