Hey guys,
I hope you can help me, i don't know my Bios Password for my Compaq Mini 702eg. The product number is CNU85221G5.
I hope really you can help me.
Best regards.
I'm running into a problem running recovery on my HP laptop.
My laptop:
HP PAVILION DM1-4010US
I was using Ubuntu on my laptop for awhile and didn't preserve the Windows partion properly and I didn't make a recovery USB ahead of time (I know I'm stupid).
So I...
1) Ordered the Recovery media from HP
2) It came as several DVDs labeled: system recovery disc 1 of 2, 2 of 2 and a driver recovery DVD.
3) My laptop has no optical drive, so I created an ISO image from DVD 1 of 2
4) Created a bootable USB with the ISO using Rufus
5) Booted from USB and ran "Recovery Manager"
Here's the problem. Part on the fresh install works fine (Recovery Preparation), but eventually it wants to restart to system. Upon restart, "Recovery Manager" pops up again as if nothing ever happened. It wants to start the entire process over again.
Did I do something wrong?
Is the fact that my USB only contains the ISO from one DVD (DVD 1 of 2) a problem?
Thanks!
Compaq Evo N610v
Does it have a RECOVERY hot key?
Which one?
If in case it doesn't have this function, is a recovery disc available?
Available for download?
Or purchase?
Thanks.

Hello,
i hope you can help me. I have a Compaq mini 702eg and I want to reinstall Windows because the old one no longer works.
My Laptop doesn't have a CD drive so I have to boot from the USB, but here's my problem, i can start from the USB but all I can see is a flashing cursor the whole time. The usb is formatted correctly, what can I do?
Best regards
My HDD failed mechanically and I bought & installed a replacement from Seagate. I have a very recent system image on an external backup drive and ideally would like to just re-create the old environment on the new drive. How do I get the contents of the system image onto the new hard drive? Reading thru some info, I realize I should maybe have made a system repair disc in addition to the system image? BTW, I can still access the recovery partition on the old hdd by using a msdos command prompt. Thanks for any help.
Hey guys, i was wondering if you can help me... I need to change my bios configuration but i dont know the default password, what should i do?
When i try to get to bios a blue box is displayed with the message , Enter Administrator Password, but i have never created a password.

Just had one shipped up from the main office and someone must have fat fingered the BIOS password, which is set as a standard. Need to be able to recover the BIOS password so that IT can access the BIOS settings.

Any help would be appreciated.
Can anybody assist with the following? I purchased recovery disk for the laptop noted above and could not get them to work, I contacted hp support who told me that the disks were in all probability faulty and pointed me back to 'Best2 Serve' who supplied the disks, I have now received a second set and have the same problem that was apparent on the first set, the scenario is as follows;
I load disk 1 and after reformatting the hard drive the second stage which copies files to restore the hard drive starts and completes 100% ok, I then receive the following message;
Copy File Fails
From: H:\PRELOAD\BASE\BASE.SWM
To: C:\RM\IMAGE\BASE.SWM
Can anybody offer any advice on this problem before I return the disks again, cannot imagine I have another faulty set as suggested !! Any help much appreciated.

I have an HP Envy Ultrabook (Sleekbook) and want to make a USB recovery drive. I know how to do this, but the process tells me that I need a 32 GB USB stick. And my recovery partiton (D:\) is almost 30 GB in use. Everything I read says the typical recovery partition is in the neighborhood of 4 to 6 GB. Can anyuone tell me what would make my recovery drive so large that I would need a 32 GB USB stick?
need help with password
Initially got a message of imminent hard disk failure.
Unable to boot to windows since.
Replaced hard drive and used recovery disks to reinstall.
Now, on power up, msg No bootable device-- insert boot sdisk and press any key.
Have tried hard reset.
Have removed all power and reset bios.
UEFI recognises disk and will run (and pass) tests.
in Bios, hard drive does not show in boot sequence.
I suspect bios is corrupt.
Can bios be flashed from UEFI?
Can boot from CDROM but in command prompt, cannot change drive to hard drive
So I had a Compaq laptop that I got back in 2008 with Vista preinstalled. In 2012, I decided to try out Windows 8 Consumer Preview to see how well it was compared to Vista. Unofrunately, 8 was less satisfying than Vista, and I recently tried to revert back to Vista using the system restore utility. I backed up all my software, and when I ran the system restore partition, it failed and gave me this error message.
Then when I boot the system, it gives me this message
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
