Failed Windows 10 install - unable to go back to Windows 7 to recover

Hi

 

A Windows 10 install failed from the background download / install on July 29th.  Notebook TM2-1010EA

 

Multiple tries to get Win 10 repaired failed, but also now don't have a running Windows7 system so can't restore the back up I created on an external drive.

 

If try the Revovery in BIOS, the Windows 10 corrupt install tries to boot up, not the Win 7 recovery.

 

I gather a pre installed Windows 7 which I have product key can't be used to either download Windows 7 ISO to start from scratch nor activate Windows 10 via a ISO. Although the latter failed during install as well.

 

The black screen problem occurred with Win 10 installs where no cursor, no hard disc activity no change in install progress even after left for six hours. 

 

So notebook in limbo with no OS. Any suggestions as route to get some sort of OS to make progress.

Upgrading hard drive Bootmgr missing

Bought new drive as upgrade. Used WD elements external drive to create a System Image .

Put the new drive in, connected the WD, started the computer and got Bootmgr missing.

Change the WD the first bootable drive.....still get Bootmgr missing.

COMMAND PROMPT IS my ONLY option

 HP G62. windows 7:  It lost power, and when I attemted to restart the computer again, the power cord came unplugged.  When I restarted the computer again the "Windows" logo came up with the music, then after a few seconds the mouse arrow displayed, but nothing else happened.   

 

I tried all options to restart the computer F 2 to F 12 but none worked.   No repair disk exists as I can not find it or I don't remember having one, there are also "no earlier restore point available..   I did get computer to do a memory check and to check hard drive check, which found no errors.

 

 My only option at this point is "command prompt"   when I went into command prompt I did a C: dir,  which showed no files.  When I did it for the D drive a short list of program files zoomed up the screen, But x: has a really long list and I think this is where my startup information and programs are located  X: . 

 

I remember this happening before to another computer I had, but it was still under warranty, so tech support had me use command prompt to restart the computer.   I just can't remember what the commands were.  

 

when command prompt is sellected it shows:   x :\windows\system32>

Recovery

Hello.
I opened my hp pavilion TouchSmart 14-b109wm for the first time. However as soon as I opened it, the screen was blue and it was written "Recovery" Your PC needs to be repaired and it is missing its registry file. I can not go anywhere except that blue screen or the trouble shoot menu.

It also said if you have installation media then use that, however I do not have installation media.

I tried trouble shooting it and it passed all the tests.

Please, I will highly appreciate any help.

I cant reboot my Presario CQ58 using my new HP system recovery DVD

My wifes computer slowed down and i tryed to reload windows for the back up but was unable too.

 

i wiped the drive and ordered system recovery DVD from HP which i received today.

 

I tryed to reboot the computer but kept getting the message No bootable device

 

I tryed a recovery disk from a differant laptop anf it did attemt to reboot but stoped haf way as the recover disk was for a differant PC

 

Please help

Administrative password or Power on

I have a computer Forgot the password I let a guy who said he knew what he was doing look at, I think he made it worse. Now when I log in I don't even get the option to press f whatever they tell me to press. It asks for the administrative password or power on password. after 3 attempts I get a system disabled 55953950. I have no clue what to do and I don't really want to ask the guy to look at it again. Please, anyone who knows what they are doing? I will add I don't know much about the inner working of computers either. So, I probably could not be super technical. Any help at all? Regards

HP Envy Bios Password Lockout

I have a HP Envy (Model 15-j009mw) that is prompting for a password to enter the BIOS setup. I am unable to boot Windows (User somehow deleted OS) and cannot get the Bios to recognize a Windows Boot Formatted USB Drive.  How may I reset the password?

 

The Halt Code I receive after 3 incorrect entries is 85586937.

my computer will not boot up all the say. I get the message "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."  I have tried running system recovery and that is not working also.

Windows 10 upgrade has killed my computer

I downloaded and attempted to install Windows 10. The end result is that I now have a computer that after displaying a blue Windows icon on the startup progresses into a completely balck screen where I'm unable to do anything. I am able to enter the startup menu and access BIOS if I press Esc before the computer loads into its black abyss. From there I have been able to perform tests and I have the following error messages:

 

File: \Boot\BCD

Status: 0xc000014c

Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuartion data

 

In addition, the Start-Up test revealed that though the Memory and SMART check tests passed, the Short DST pass failed and came up with the following info:

Failure ID: GU6KX1-60PTNL-MFPV5F-60R103

Product ID: QG844EA#ABU

 

My warranty expired in January 2013. I do have 2 system recovery discs but every attempt I make to restart my computer with these ends in failure with the promising message that Windows is loading, only to be left in a grey background where the CD-ROM stops loading and nothing happens even after having left the computer alone for an hour.

 

Is my computer dead? Any help would be appreciated.

Zbook 14 Windows 10 Restore

So when I updated to Windows 10, I kept getting BSoD because of a internal power error (which was pretty common apparently with AMD for w10). So I let the computer reset itself and install a clean version of Windows 10 and now it doesn't recognize my AMD card anymore. I can't access the recovery manager because the reset wiped all the HP software so is there any way to access the recovery partition and factory restore it? Any help appreciated thanks

I just bought new hp latptop with pre installed OS 8.1 64 bit

now i wan't to install windows seven in it so does it get register automatically from bios or after  again installting windows 8.1 bios will automatically update my registration?

DV6 Pavilion Dual boot - error no such partition

I had set up a dual boot with Linux Mint 17 and Win 7.

 

Normally when starting  it defaults to Linux. If I want  Win 7 I have to choose it freom the dos screen.

 

Yesterday this changed and when it boots, I get a black screen..

 

error: no such partition

Entering rescue mode

grub rescue:

 

and the cursopr stays there.  I am not surte where to go from here..

 

My system has the HP Diagnostics Ver 3.7.0.0

Bios is F.29

 

Bios Boot is..

HP Quick web - disabled

CD Rom Enabled

Floppy Disabled

Internal Net Adapter Disabled

 

I don't have a win disc as iot was on the pc when I got it.  Warranty date is 2010.

 

Any help please?

Hi. I have the an Envy 15 - j171nr laptop and tried to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to 10 using the Windows download. I followed all of the prompts and system updates and then tried installing the system overnight. That was my first mistake. After downloading Windows 10, during the boot process the HP logo comes on the screen but then the screen flashes and it goes into a loop trying to boot and repeating the same error.

 

I shut down the computer and tried to reinstall Windows 8.1 from a USB drive. During the recovery manager process, where it reads "Reformatting the Windows partition of the hard drive" I get the error code 0xFFFF00E and the process has gone 0%. I have tried to boot from the USB several times but get this error.

 

Does this error code indicate that my hard drive is damaged? I have no method of getting Windows 10 to boot or reinstalling Windows 8.1 and wondering:

 

-how can I reinstall Windows 8? Or get Windows 10 to work for that matter? 

 

Right now, I have a silver HP brick.

hdd change no product key win 8.1 pro

Hi,

 

because of a faulty sdd which i had implantd myself, i cannot recover the original product key.

 

i know have build in a new sdd, and i have installed win 8,1 pro, but i do not have the product key, it isn't on the bottom either.

 

How do i get the original product key that belongs with my HP Pavilion 13-a030nd x360?

Can't find a way to factory reset

Hi

 

I've been trying to factory reset my old laptop to clean it up before I give it to my brother, the problem is that i can't find a way to do it.

 

  • I don't have a windows disk so i can't reinstall windows.
  • I don't have a recovery disc.
  • I can't find a recovery manager program on the computer.
  • Pressing F11 when booting up isn't doing anything at all.

 

Is there any other way to factory reset or is there another way to reset my computer other than factory reset?

 

Help much appreciated

Encrypted ProBook 650 won't boot - BCD error

We have a new ProBook 650 laptop running Windows 7 64-bit. We encrypted the machine using the Winmagic on HP encryption software that came with the laptop. The last week getting the error "Windows Boot Manager" Failed Boot/ BCD

 

Have you ever found a solution to this problem?

 

I read this post an need the next tools: SDWmgRecovery.exe tool and SD WinPE ISO.

 

I want recovery all files... Helpme please!
