I just converted from Win-7 (purchased July 2015) to Win-10. I have not yet got a response from HP as to whether this conversion effects my warranty; MicroSoft had said to do that first, and I wasted hours trying to find that answer.
Now after conversion, I notice that I still have a Recovery Partition (D) on my machine, that appears to be useless and is taking-up HD space and also a Recovery Folder in applications that says when opened "that they were not built for O/S 8"?? Regardless, since these applications no longer work; can I just delete them, I do have Restore Disks created when machine first arrived.
Any suggestions on what I should do with this Recovery Partition; since it appears useless, I'd like the HD space back. ALSO, if known by anyone/someone, if that partition is deleted and I were to recreate Win-7 with the Recovery Disks - would those Disks also recreate this Recovery Partition too??? Thanks for any assistance ... - dlcNV
Hi,
I purchased a HP 250 G2 Notebook last November, and have had 2 hard drive issues so far. This current one has this message on Startup -
"Boot Device Not Found"
"Please install an operating system on your hard disk"
When searching through these forums on another laptop, I found a solution to go to F2 and do a hardware diagnostic, so I clicked on Hard Drive Check, then both "Quick Check" and "Extensive Check".
After a screen comes up to say "Starting Hard Drive Check", the following message appears - "SMART Check: NOT INSTALLED, and Long DST: NOT INSTALLED.
Afer checking over the forums again, HP has suggested to another user to download the latest UEFI diagnostics version. My question is: How on earth am I meant to download something onto a laptop which does not go through startup? Also, why are the hard drive checks not installed on my BRAND NEW COMPUTER? Fed up.
hi..!
i tried recently to create a recovery DISCS but hp recovery manager keep crashing when i want to start burning those dvds
and this is what i get
i have looked for solutions in the internet and i tried some of theme by activate the recovery partition but this is what i found in disk management
As you can see in the picture, There are some dots instead of the product name. When I bought my PC I was able to find the model and product serial. My HP Support Assistant was also able to detect them automatically, but since some days I see these dots, I don't know why this happened. No auto detect app can now detect my PC model and Serial.
Is there any way to fix it? My warranty period is over and the service center is far away from here, so if possible give me a solution that I myself can give a try!
P.S. I Have A Good Idea About PCs, So Even If The Solutions Difficulty Level Is Advanced Please Do Share! Thanks In Advance
Hi,
I have installed Windows 10 Preview on the laptop. All ok. But it will not now update to full Windows 10 as the product key is no longer available. The F11 recovery to Windows 8 factory install does not work and I cannot find the product key. What do I do? I need to get the Windows product key that came with the laptop, but HP does not put a sticker on the laptop like other brands it seems. How do I reinstall to factory defaults so I can upgrade to Windows 10?
i have another problem my laptop won't open..

I upgraded to windows 10 and I had some issues with it. Unfortunately I refresh the system and I didn't have all the hp software reinstalled. I managed to reinstall all of them except the hp recovery media tools. I would like to create recovery media and I need that. How do I reinstall it?

I have been trying what should be my bios password, and all reasonable combos around it, but I'm going to have to give up. I haven't locked the system yet. Should I just let it lock and get a code??
We attempted to upgrade to Windows 10.
When it came up all the USB ports are unusable.
We stepped back to Win 7 and the ports are still "dead".
We were told there's a virus preventing downloading and installing new USB drivers.
If I do a total system recovery will that delete the virus and reactivate the USB ports?
Is there any chance the virus has also corrupted the recovery software?
I have a refurbished HP 15-d069wm I bought at Walmart, but when I started it up the previous owner has the admin password. I want to return it to factory specs and make myself admin. I need dtaled instructions on how to do so. Thank you.
Start up but only get "Operating System not found" on a black screen.
Tried to click on F11 but get nothing. I might add that I did click on F11 earlier and got recovery at 90%, then 24% the second time, but both times locked up after each % shown. Now I get nothing when I click on F11. It no longer goes into "Recovery".
Tried to load my "Recovery Disk 1 of 3" then restart, but it won't read from the drive. Tried to change boot order to DVD drive but does nothing. Only shows the "HP Invent" screen.
Please help! Local stores want $200. to restore.

I tried to update my OS to windows 10, but something happened during the instalation that it can't boot anymore. It tries to recover the OS, but then a blue window is diplayed saying something wrong happened and then it reboots. This goes forever. I tried to create an installation media for Windows 10 and isntall again and boot using the usb drive, but same problem. Then, I tried to create an installation media for Windows 8.1 and still can't go forward. Is there a way to recover the system or at least format and reinstall any OS?
